Prairie Hotel, Parachilna

If you want a fun stay in the outback, then this is the place. The Prairie seems "wired" to have a good time. The staff are amazing - last Friday, we were all drinking under the stars to some fair-dinkum bloke with his guitar when the waiters and owners start getting into it - climaxing with 2 of the waiters "air" poll dancing on top of barrels. I guess you had to be there. But this is a quality place (food, accommodation, ethos) and there are no TVs or pokies to distract you. They seem to team up a lot with other tourist activities in the area and when we were there hosted about 250 people at the Outback Shorts Cinema Under the Stars - which was A class.
Its about 5 hours drive from Adelaide (via Port Augusta or Claire) and really is the only thing in Parachilna. There are heaps of short trips to Flinders Ranges scenery nearby.
Note: their website does not do them justice.
